Growth of healthy hair mainly depends on its normal healthy functioning and structure.

The structure of hair is classified into two parts –

Living part, this remains inside the skin.

Non living part which is projected out of the skin.   

 There is alternation between growth and dormancy phases of hair. In the growth phase follicles of hair are bulbous and long. Hair grows outward with the rate of approx 15 millimeters/ month. After the period of 3 to 6 months, hair growth stops and hair follicle start shrinking and the root of the hair grows rigid.

 

There are many factors that affect the hair growth such as,

a poor hair care regimen,

poor diet,

illness,

medication,

male and female pattern hair loss, and

emotional stress. 

 

 

 

Hair Growing Tips

 

  1.  Treat your hair carefully avoid redundant brushing, combing or handling.

  2. Avoid use of hot water, hot blow dryers etc…

  3. Massage the scalp weekly, it strengthens the hair follicles.

  4. Trim hair split ends.

  5. Ample rest and sleep. Excessive stress and some medications are conclusively known to retard hair growth reduce the stress as much as possible.

Eat a healthy diet.  Since hair is protein, a diet that is too low in protein may cause some thinning in hair or a retardation in the growth cycle.  Diet with rich proteins:  the dietary utilization of calves liver, brewer's yeast, wheat germ, fish, eggs, beans, yogurt.  Soy protein is also helpful in stimulating hair growth. Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fat. Avoid smoking, caffeine and carbonated sodas. These products weaken the body and blocks hair growing potential.
